Get on “Autoroute Blanche” (A40) heading for Chamonix-Mont Blanc, Milan
Pay €1.70 around Annemasse
Leave at Exit 18 - there
is no Exit 17 in this direction
Pay €1.80 at exit paybooth
Follow signs to Samoens, Les Gets, Morzine as you bypass the centre of Cluses - in detail :-
- At the first roundabout after the pay booth take the third exit signposted to Samoens, then go across next roundabout
- Carry on over the river, across traffic lights to next roundabout (about half a mile)
- Turn left following signs to Samoens
- Go under railway bridge
- Turn right through industrial estate, keeping to the centre of the road, avoiding slip roads
- At roundabout, turn left up hill to Samoens
- Keep to the main road (D902) up twisty road for 5 miles to Chatillon – a traffic-calmed village at the highest point on the road
- Descend down through forest, after less than a mile the D902 hairpins left, to Taninges. At this bend, turn right off the main road onto the D4 towards Morillon and Samoens (in effect, carrying straight on)
- Carry on for 6 miles through traffic-calmed Morillon, ignoring any signs to Samoens 1600
- When you reach Samoens, turn sharp left over the River Giffre. At the roundabout, take the first exit signed to Telecabine Grand Massif Express
- Turn right at the next roundabout, signed to Sixt Fer a Cheval
- Go past the cheese factory, then a sharp bend to right takes you over a river
- After 300 yards down straight road, just before a turning on the left, turn right down a track, at a "Private Road" post carrying"La Cascade" and "Lys Martagon" signs
- Two more right turns and you’re there. Chalet La Cascade is the second door
